Safety & Etiquette
The bow is intended as a greeting/farewell to the spirit of the dojo or club, and it should act as the students first step in mentally preparing for the training ahead. The student should try and leave behind his 'real-life' when he enters the dojo.
Ju Jitsu is a martial art and carries an inherent danger in its practition. Therefore to reduce the risk of accident, the student should try to focus on training once the enter the dojo, putting aside the distractions of life outside the dojo.
Here at the Nagare-En-Martial Arts Academy we take the safety of all our students very seriously.
We believe that without respect and etiquette in the dojo the effective safety of those training can be comprimised.
All students bow before entering or leaving the matted area, bow to their training partner and bow before passing weapons and training aids to each other.
