Our instructors are all experienced martial artists, DBS-checked and first aiders, so you know that you and your children are in safe hands.

We aim to make all our classes both fun, engaging, and packed with the right elements to equip you for day-to-day life.

Our lead instructors are:

Sensei Patrick Martin

Patrick has been involved in martial arts since 1985 and has trained in Japanese Jujitsu(6th Dan), Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Gracie Barra Black Belt), Boxing and Wing Chun, amongst other styles. He is a trained coach in a number of sports, and also varieties of sign language. He started the club in the late 90’s, initially teaching a more traditional style of Japanese Jujitsu, and over the years has gradually refined this to incorporate techniques from a variety of styles as well as adding BJJ and MMA to the club’s core disciplines.

Sensei Stephen Martin

Stephen is a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Japanese Ju Jitsu and has over 20 years martial arts experience. He is also a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt, under Braulio Estima (3x Black Belt World Champion) and is the Previous Brown Belt European Gi & NoGi Champion and holds multiple British and International BJJ Titles.

Stephen is also a professional MMA fighter and has fought on the UK’s biggest shows, including BAMMA, Cage Warriors and BCMMA.

Sensei Dave Whittaker

Head coach at our Shelton Lock academy, Dave has trained under Patrick for over ten years, holding a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Japanese Jujitsu.

Sensei Christine McDonagh

Christine is a 1st degree Black Belt in Japanese Ju Jitsu and has over 15 years martial arts experience. She is also a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is a former Pan American Champion & 2x European Champion.

Christine is also a qualified Physiotherapist.
